The Daily Oink! Top three pig producers

Hello and welcome back to my blog.

The daily oink. My name is Nevaeh Warmington.

Today is Saturday, November 1, 2025 and I’m going to be talking about the main 3 pig producers.

The top producer overall is Muyuan Foodstuff in china.

Publicly traded Muyuan Foodstuff is an integrated feed producer, and also has interests in pig breeding, slaughtering and processing. The agribusiness enterprise includes more than 300 subsidiaries and two shareholding companies. https://www.feedstrategy.com/top-feed-companies/company/muyuan-foodstuff

The second is Wens Group in china.

Wens Food Group is a leading producer of poultry and pigs in China, having consolidated 390 companies to encompass 49,800 family farms across China. It sells in more than 20 provinces and municipalities. In 2017, the company pivoted into livestock slaughtering and meat processing to buffer against the financial strains of low pork prices. Wen's is also planning to sell its own brand of food products through more than 5,000 retail outlets being built in southern China.

The third is Smithfield Foods / WH group in the USA.

WH group is a very large pork company in the US. WH Group bought Smithfield Foods for $4.7 billion in 2013, making them a global pork industry leader. Recently, though, WH Group has seen sales drop, with a 6.8% decrease in FY23 and an 8.3%. This is mainly due to lower revenues in the US from packaged meats and pork, affected by tough market conditions, the sale of Saratoga Specialty Foods, reduced harvest levels, and weak consumer demand.
